This is the last scheduled class (a makeup). We'll be reviewing everything we've done so far:

sextant sighting adjustments,
Local Hour Angle calculations,
Polaris shots for latitude,
noon sun shots for latitude and longitude,
the celestial triangle, and
full star reductions.

We'll finish up with more plotting techniques, and more discussion on various techniques of sight reduction (calculator, computer, HO249, HO229) and their pros and cons. And we'll talk about instruments needs for celestial navigation and good books. Please keep the questions coming!

Anyone that borrowed an old nautical almanac on the first class, please return them and make sure you have picked up your 2018 nautical almanac!

I'll try to schedule more sextant outings when the weather permits and hopefully on a boat!
